38 }  Colleen Lynch
Metalsmith

Colleen has been a metalsmith for over 40 years and for the last several years, has spent much time with fishermen in the Bay of Fundy. They taught her about their gear, how to build traditional herring weirs and most particularly, how to tie the knots to make and mend nets by hand. Colleen's preferred material is metal however, not twine, so she makes silver, copper and brass "nets" which she forms into small-scale sculptures, containers and wall reliefs. She also often incorporates etched images of fish and other sea life.

40 }  Sara Sparks
Paintings

Born in Saint John New Brunswick 1951, Sara attended Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She paints wildlife and animals in their natural habitat. There's an illustrative quality to her work, as if the painting is telling a story. Often the animals are looking directly at the viewer as if questioning or challenging. Sara uses strong colors and likes her work to be detailed and accurate, so her style is very realistic. She paints in oils on canvas. Often the canvases are large, with a feeling of almost being able to walk in, or to be a part of the image.
